3 Must Have Apps For Guitar Players
Those who think the iPad is a waste of money obviously is looking at it as a computer rather then a device to connect you to great apps. These mobile devices and tables are creating an entirely new industry of mini software apps of which some are changing the way guitar players can learn.
This article will share with you the top 3 applications for guitar players no matter what your skill level.
Amplitube and iRig
Want to make hundreds of different sounds with your guitar? This is the app for you. In a nutshell this app replaces the need for a modelling amp or device like the Line 6 Pod by providing a variety of amps, stomp boxes and cabinets you can play through on your device.
The option iRig device plugs into your earphone/output jack on your iPhone or iPad and provides a 1/4” jack to plug your guitar patch cable into and then a pass through jack which you can plug earphones into or a stereo mini cable to plug into external speakers or a recording device.
GuitarLab
This app is awesome for beginners. The app streams live lessons from the web, provides access to chord and scales and is a great all around reference tool. I don't think this application will become a full on teaching tool it is great for supplemental learning when you're away or on the go.
Guitarist's Reference
This is yet another awesome great education app for guitarists. Ever find yourself trying to remember the 3rd pattern on the neck of the pentatonic scale or what a particular patten looks like? Possibly you just can't remember what a C7th chord looks like and you need to learn it right now. Guitarist's Reference is the right tool for the job. It places all the knowledge you could ever need about chords, scales, tunings, triads and more right at your finger tips. This is a must have for all guitarist's.
There are a lot more apps available that I feel are worth while, but these are the top of the heap. These devices are no real threat to dvd or online lessons, but they are quickly replacing chord books and charts with a smaller and less expensive alternative.
What skill level are you at on the guitar? Interested in improving? consider trying a guitar instruction dvd or online guitar lessons. Both options are becoming great alternatives to private instruction for adults.
